Most people buy an S7 because their insurer asked
The S7 is monitored tracking and recovery — the requirement met, without paying for driver recognition or immobilisation your policy hasn't asked for. For many drivers it's exactly the right level.
Check the exact wording on your policy first
Insurers word this differently, and the difference matters — fitting the wrong category can get a theft claim refused. If any of these appear in what they've sent you, this is the product they mean:
If they've asked for S5, ADR or driver tags, you need the S5 instead. If they've asked for immobilisation, that's the S5+.
What an S7 actually does
Monitored stolen vehicle tracking and recovery. If the vehicle is moved, towed or tampered with, the 24/7 call centre is alerted, verifies the theft with you, and passes live location to the police.
You also see everything yourself, through the app and web login — useful day to day, not just in a theft.
No driver tags, no immobilisation
Worth being plain about: the S7 doesn't use ADR driver tags and can't stop the engine restarting during a theft. It finds a stolen vehicle; it doesn't recognise who's driving or put a barrier in the way.
If your insurer asked for either of those — or your policy wording mentions S5, ADR or immobilisation — buy the higher category, not this one.

A £40 device shows a dot on a map. It isn't Thatcham certified, nobody is watching it at 3am, and no police force will act on it the way they act on a call from a monitoring centre.
If your insurer has specified S7, a self-fit GPS unit almost certainly won't satisfy them — and you'd find that out at claim time.
Why professional fitting matters
A tracker only works if a thief can't find it. It needs to go in discreetly, wired to the right connection points — not visible, badly placed or easy to pull out.

The bit that actually gets your car back
The hardware in your car is only half the job. Monitoring is the 24/7 UK control room watching it, and it's what turns an alert into a recovered vehicle — or into an engine that won't restart. Your insurer needs it active for the S5 approval to count.

If the vehicle moves without your ADR tag, they call you first to rule out a false alarm, then escalate.
Once a theft is confirmed and the vehicle is stationary, the control room can stop the engine restarting. That's the S5+ difference, and it only works because someone is on the other end.
The centre liaises with police forces directly, passing live location as the vehicle moves. That's the difference between a crime number and your car back.

What the order form asks for, and why
A tracker isn't a box we post you — it's a fitted, insurer-registered system with an immobiliser wired in. The few extra questions at checkout are what let us turn up prepared and get your paperwork right first time.
Your tracker needs an active subscription for the control room to respond, and for your insurer to accept the S5 approval. Choose 1 to 5 years, at £180 a year — it's added to your total here. Same price as our standard S5.
We fit at your home or work, so we're working around one van and real traffic. Giving us three options means we can almost always confirm one of them straight away instead of going back and forth.
The ADR tag that tells the system it's you driving. One is included; add a second if someone else drives the vehicle regularly, or the system will flag their journeys as unauthorised and the control room will call you.
Every vehicle wires differently, and the immobilisation side especially. Knowing what we're fitting to means we arrive with the right loom and mounting, and it's what goes on your certificate of installation.
Keyless vehicles are the relay-theft targets, so we set the system up differently — it changes how the driver recognition and immobilisation are configured. Worth answering accurately.
We need to know where the vehicle will actually be on the day, which isn't always your billing address — plenty of our fits happen in work car parks.
